What the show covers

The Runbook is an interview podcast about the technology decisions behind running a business. Each episode sits down with an operator, a founder, someone building AI tooling, or a practitioner inside a vendor, and asks the questions that rarely make it into the marketing: what did you choose, what did it cost, what broke, and what would you do differently.

The audience skews senior and technical: IT directors, managed service provider owners, and founders of tech-enabled businesses. So we skip the basics and spend the time on trade-offs.

  • Operations. Identity, backups, help desks, vendor management, and the runbooks that keep a company working when someone is on holiday.
  • Growth. The systems decisions that let a small team behave like a bigger one, and the ones that quietly hold it back.
  • AI in practice. What has actually shipped inside real businesses, separated from what is still a demo.

Your host

Host of The Runbook

The host has spent a career on the operator side of technology: running IT for growing companies, sitting in the vendor meetings, and cleaning up after the decisions that looked fine on the slide. The show exists because the most useful conversations about that work happen after the meeting, in the hallway. This is the hallway.

Be a guest

Good guests have made a real technology decision inside a real business and can talk about it candidly, including the parts that went wrong. Titles matter less than scar tissue. If that sounds like you, or someone you know, send a short pitch: who you are, the decision, and why it is worth forty minutes of a busy listener's time.
